love hearts

Although my studio didn’t take part in Cambridge Open Studios this year, we are still very much involved and that’s why I decided to take part in a loveheart painting challenge to raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity‘s new hospice. My loveheart was on display in my studiomate Neil Warmsley‘s Open Studio that he this year shared with stone carver Keith Bailey. The hearts are all going to be auctioned off later in the year so keep an eye on the Love Your New Hospice Facebook page to see all the lovehearts as they appear and later on for news of the auction!

open studios 2015 – the last weekend!

Last weekend was the first weekend of Open Studios for us here at Derby Road and we had a wonderful time chatting with all our visitors! We had a bit of a catastrophe before we put our work on the walls as crazy weather in Cambridge on Thursday night caused a flood in our studio. Friday morning was a scene of soggy devastation at Derby Road but after a long day cleaning up, Nicola, Ian, Neil and I managed to set it all straight and even got it looking rather lovely! If you are in Cambridge on Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th July then come along and see what we’ve done with the place – we are open from 11-6pm both days. We look forward to seeing you!

interview

I recently had a visit at my studio from Karen Jinks and Mandy Knapp who are the creative force behind Cambridge Creative Network. Karen and Mandy have been doing a series of artist interviews in advance of Cambridge Open Studios and they chose me! It was fantastic to meet artists who are so dedicated to helping people in the creative arts link up as well as promote what they do. Have a look at their website to see my interview and to find out more about Cambridge Creative Network and other Cambridge artists.ML

Open Studios Prep

Open Studios is coming around fast and here at 22 Derby Road preparations have started getting underway!  We are opening our studio on the 19th/20th July and the 26th/27th July so if you live in or around Cambridge then do come and have a look. MyselfNicola Killen, Neil Warmsley and Ian Farrell all share a studio and we will be showing illustrations, paintings, photographs and prints. You will also be able to buy copies of some of our books, my Grubbies scarves and Ian will be taking photographs for a live exhibition of portraits throughout both weekends!
