Last weekend was the first weekend of Open Studios for us here at Derby Road and we had a wonderful time chatting with all our visitors! We had a bit of a catastrophe before we put our work on the walls as crazy weather in Cambridge on Thursday night caused a flood in our studio. Friday morning was a scene of soggy devastation at Derby Road but after a long day cleaning up, Nicola, Ian, Neil and I managed to set it all straight and even got it looking rather lovely! If you are in Cambridge on Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th July then come along and see what we’ve done with the place – we are open from 11-6pm both days. We look forward to seeing you!
I recently had a visit at my studio from Karen Jinks and Mandy Knapp who are the creative force behind Cambridge Creative Network. Karen and Mandy have been doing a series of artist interviews in advance of Cambridge Open Studios and they chose me! It was fantastic to meet artists who are so dedicated to helping people in the creative arts link up as well as promote what they do. Have a look at their website to see my interview and to find out more about Cambridge Creative Network and other Cambridge artists.
I know it’s only February but it’s time to start thinking about Open Studios again! We’ll be opening our studio here in Derby Road for the last two weeks in July but the deadline for the image to put in the OS guide is this Saturday. So I am getting my skates on and trying to produce a picture for the guide which will look good tiny. I’m not quite there yet, but here is my first attempt:
Open Studios is over! The pictures are coming down from the walls which is making us all a little bit sad, but we did have such a brilliant time. We have a bit of a taste for it now and there is talk of doing a Christmas Open Studio too so keep an eye on our Derby Road Facebook page to see what we are all up to.
I am packing up some of the pictures I sold and getting ready to deliver them to their new homes, here they are for the last time…
Here at 22 Derby Road we are preparing for another sunny weekend of Open Studios. Last weekend was a great success and we had a chance to meet lots of lovely people who said awfully nice things about our work – brilliant! If you are about over the weekend then do come and find us; myself, Nicola Killen, Ian Farrell and Neil Warmsley will be here at the studio from 11am to 6pm both Saturday and Sunday.
22 Derby Road is a hive of activity at the moment as myself and my studiomates Nicola, Ian and Neil prepare to open our studio to the world this weekend. Pictures are being framed ready to go up on the walls and books are still arriving – it’s all everso exciting and we are really hoping people will come along and have a look! We will be open from 11am – 6pm the 19th & 20th, and the 26th & 27th July, our address is: 22 Derby Road, Cambridge, CB1 7BU.
My brand new Grubbies scarves have just arrived and look gorgeous! Have a sneak peek below at the new scarves and head on over to Grubbies website to take advantage of the last couple of days of their summer sale.
Open Studios is coming around fast and here at 22 Derby Road preparations have started getting underway! We are opening our studio on the 19th/20th July and the 26th/27th July so if you live in or around Cambridge then do come and have a look. Myself, Nicola Killen, Neil Warmsley and Ian Farrell all share a studio and we will be showing illustrations, paintings, photographs and prints. You will also be able to buy copies of some of our books, my Grubbies scarves and Ian will be taking photographs for a live exhibition of portraits throughout both weekends!
I’ll be taking part in Cambridge Open Studios this year and today my work is being featured on the Open Studios Facebook page! My studio will be opening its doors to the world on the last two weekends in July and we are all quite excited about it, that is to say me and my studio pals Nicola Killen, Neil Warmsley and Ian Farrell.
Here is my guide image and below some of my other work featured on the Open Studios Website:
